LOOKING BACK: BERLIN BERLIN Vol.I
MANIFESTO
-
The underground Techno scene around the world stand proudly against the grain, continuing one of the oldest and most marginalised professions in our society. We bring an event that embodies and honours the expression of sexual empowerment and breaks down stigmatisations; to reclaim the right for people to make informed decisions about their bodies and to be comfortable in their own skin. Inspired by Red light districts, the Berlin music scene and their message, we aim to channel their power and celebrate people's uniqueness by creating a safe space for people to truly be themselves and creatively express their sexuality.
-
BERLIN BERLIN is about escaping reality and dancing to the music we all love. We always believed in the power of music to bring people together as one with love in our hearts and today we have the same vision, a melting pot of different genders, races, ages, sexualities and abilities. We intend to create a queer space that is intersectional, liberating, loving, generous and as safe as possible for everyone attending. To be able to do that, there are certain things we ask and expect of you.
-
Consent is paramount. We ask you not to touch anyone without consent. This applies to everyone in the party including our performers.
-
BERLIN BERLIN has a zero-tolerance policy on sexual or physical harassment. Anyone reported for or caught harassing anybody may be removed from the venue. There will be a dedicated team of armband wearers that are trained to look out for and proactively prevent sexual harassment, if you see or feel harassed by anyone, please feel safe to talk to an armband wearer, they are neither security nor police and they will believe you.
-
We are working towards being an inclusive, diverse and anti-racist space; we want to create parties that are safe and welcoming for BIPOC, if you are reported for racist behaviour of any kind, you will immediately be removed from the venue. If you witness racism happening, report it! If you are silent then you are part of the problem. We expect you to be actively anti racist.
-
BERLIN BERLIN is a queer party for all - good people are welcome here, queers and allies alike. However, if you are an ally, we ask you to consider what being an ally means to you. This is a queer party. You are in someone's house and we therefore ask you to respect and understand that unconditionally. You are a welcome guest in a special place, a place where people want to feel free and liberated. Anyone not agreeing or understanding this will be asked to leave immediately!
-
Presentation is not always a true reflection of identity. Please do not make assumptions about anyone's gender, race or sexuality. We want BERLIN BERLIN to be a space that centres QBIPOC, trans and non-binary experiences. Ask what pronouns someone uses and use gender neutral language when referring to someone you do not know.
-
Look out for your friends and fellow dancers alike. We are a family! If someone is in need, please get them the help they deserve. If there is an immediate threat, danger or emergency, alert any security or staff member immediately.
